Captain's Wall

The rank of Police Explorer Captain is the highest attainable rank for any Newport Beach Police Explorer to achieve. The Captain is responsible for overseeing all Explorer and Explorer Supervisor functions and duties.

Captain Allison Green

(August 2013 - April 2015 )

 Allison Green began her tenure as an Explorer in 2012 and left in April of 2015. During her time in Post 1050, she received the following commendations; 250+ hours of community service, Team Leader on various competition teams, Rank of Explorer Sergeant, and Rank of Explorer Lieutenant. 

Allison went on to attend the University of California, Berkeley after leaving the Explorer Program. 

Captain Maria Dominguez

(March 2013 - August 2013 )

 Maria Dominguez joined the Explorer Post in 2012. In March of 2013, she became the Captain of Post 1050. During her time she received the following commendations; 100+ hours of community service, Team Leader on various competition teams, Rank of Explorer Sergeant, and Rank of Explorer Lieutenant.

Captain Claudia Barboza

(September 2012 - March 2013 )

  Claudia Barboza joined Post 1050 in 2011. During her time as an Explorer she donated 250+ hours of service to the City of Newport Beach. In addition to this, she also filled the role of Team Leader (Chandler 2012), and had perfect attendance during her time in the Post. 

Claudia helped develop organizational methods for better administration within the post. Her greatest achievement are her administration and organization of events. After leaving the post she worked as Newport Beach Police Cadet. 

Captain Giovanni Almaraz

(May 2012 - September 2012 )

 Captain Giovanni Almaraz joined the NBPD Explorer Post in 2009. During his time as an Explorer he received numerous commendations including the O.C.L.E.E.A.A. Gold Award, A leadership award from Corona Del Mar High School, and had perfect attendance. Captain Almaraz also was a Team Leader for the 2010 Chandler Tactical Competition in which Post 1050 placed in numerous events. 

Captain Almaraz was known for his commitment to organizing and planning events. During his time in Post 1050 he achieved the ranks of Explorer, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. 

Captain Melinda Green

(September 2011 - May 2012 )

  Captain Melinda Green served as a Newport Beach Police Explorer from 2009 to 2012. During her time in Post 1050 she received the following commendations; Gold Award Recipient, Competition Team Leader, and the Presidential Service Award in recognition of her service to her community. 

Melinda Competed in the 2010 and 2012 Chandler Competition and was assigned as the Team Leader for the 2012 Competition. 

After leaving Post 1050, Captain Green moved on to attend the University of California, Los Angeles. 

Captain Giovanni Almaraz

(February 2010 - January 2011 )

 Captain Giovanni Almaraz joined the NBPD Explorer Post in 2009. During his time as an Explorer he received numerous commendations including the O.C.L.E.E.A.A. Gold Award, A leadership award from Corona Del Mar High School, and had perfect attendance. Captain Almaraz also was a Team Leader for the 2010 Chandler Tactical Competition in which Post 1050 placed in numerous events. 

Captain Almaraz was known for his commitment to organizing and planning events. During his time in Post 1050 he achieved the ranks of Explorer, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. 

Captain Mike Ciraulo

(November 2009 - February 2010)

 Captain Mike Ciraulo was in the Post from 2007 to 2010, serving as Captain for his last two years in the program. During his time in Post 1050, he received the following commendations; Perfect Attendance, 250+ hours of Community Service, and Competition Team Leader. 

Captain Ciraulo's peers noted his passion for the Post Color Guard and his long-lasting commitment to it during his time in the program. Captain Ciraulo served as the head of the Color Guard for several years. 

After leaving the Post, Captain Ciraulo went on to become a Military Police Officer in the United States Marine Corps

Captain Justin Edson

(January 2008 - November 2009 )

 Captain Justin Edson was an Explorer from 2006 to 2009. During his time in the program he received a long list of commendations including the O.C.L.E.E.A.A. Gold Award, Competition Team Leader, Perfect Attendance, and the Presidential Service Award for over 2,000 hours of community service. 

Captain Edson created the second version of the Newport Beach Police Explorers website and the 78 page Officer's Handbook to help Officers in the field. He received the Advisor's Award for his work. Toward the end of his time as an Explorer, Captain Edson created the Explorer Tactical Manual. He also created the Post's Leadership Course for Supervisor's and other future leaders.

During his time, he was an Explorer, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. 

After leaving the Post, Justin went on to become a Newport Beach Police Cadet.
